SDR-DB1089 stuck in 2CH STR mode, surround sound not working

Hi

I have connected up my 5 surround sound speakers and an active subwoofer to the unit I then followed the instructions in the manual following a factory reset . The unit looks to be stuck in 2 CH STR (Stereo) . The light is on above the button. If I press any other surround sound button such as auto detect, mode etc the display shows 2 Channel stereo and the light above the 2CH STR button remains lit. I tested the speakers using the level option. All of the speakers show up in the display but only left and right are selectable and emit the tone the others speakers are skipped over. can you suggest what the issue could be?

This sounds very unusual. Are you sure the content you're trying to play is surround 5.1 content?
