rdr-hx1000 DVD/HDD not burning discs!

My faithful 5yr old hx1000 has suddenly stopped recognising DVD-RW, DVD+RW, and making coasters out of my usual DVD-R blanks! Despite lens cleaning.  It plays DVDs and recorded DVD-R fine.     It still records to HDD, but obviously doesnt dub anymore. Any clues?

Hi it would appear the writer side of the drive has failed, it would need a new drive assembly, please visit link below for nearest approaved repair centre;

thanks for helpful reply. One of the workshops estimated £200 plus for a new drive assembly, so I'm probably going to buy a new Panasonic DMR-EX83EB-K for £220 incl VAT/deliv.
