optical cable

Hi,

I have lost the sound on my TV from my Sony surround sound system. The TV sound works OK. Could the Optical cable have failed. Is there anyway of testing this rather than buying a new £50 cable?

Not that I know of.

Also why would you buy such an expensive cable?

The optical cables from KabelDirekt are very good and cost ~13 pounds for 15meters: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FQK3H8Q/

If you need a shorter one, it is even less expensive.
