I have recorder RDR HX525 (no Freeview) and Bravia TV KDL32V4000 (with Freeview). No set top box. Only 2 connecting leads: arial from wall to recorder IN and OUT to TV; scart lead from TV AV2 to Recorder LINE 1. No other leads. Up until Jan, I coudld receive Guideplus and one button recorder from channels 1-5, but since Jan nothing. How can I get guideplus back?
You were getting guide+ updates from ITV1, this service switched off on 1st Jan 2011. Check the GP website, but looks like you can now only get it via eurosport on sky. I have tried settng this up, but only get the grid, not the tv data.
Thanks for your suggestion. I don't have Sky so can't tune to eurosport. Also don't seem to be able to tune to Bid TV as no freeview on RDR HX525. Have freeview on TV. I only have the 2 leads joining the TV and recorder: arial and scart, should I have another lead linking them in some way? What? How?
I now get my tv data via sky box - setting host to manual rec1 channel 410.
You could try connecting TV to sony via RF (ariel cable) then putting TV on bidtv and rescanning sony channels, it might then pick up the TV as a bidtv channel and put it next to other terrestial channels, allowing you to set it as host. I did this with sky and eurosport and it did find it.
Thanks for your suggestion. I've tried tuning to bid tv and rescanning the channels, but still nothing. Do I have enough leads connecting the TV and recorder together? At present only have scart and aerial connections.
I'm a newbie to forums a - what do I have to do to get a response from Sony in this one?
You could try scart and RF (arial) connection from tv but may not work, bidtv was just a hunch, the manual only refers to ITV1 (now switched of) and eurosport. Read bidtv can be used on later digital recorders.
