Hi guys,
First post here so be gentle 👍🏽
I have an old DA100ES 7.1 amp and I'm currently using it as 5. 1 only.
I was going to install a pair of rear speakers in the ceiling ( I have a pair of JBL HTi6C in stock) to make use of the rear chanel.
It was at this point, that a good friend suggested, as my sofa is almost against the rear wall it wouldn't really be effective.
Instead, I should look to use the speakers for a front high option as this would yield far better results.
I have looked through the manual and can't make sense of it if I'm honest (not a real audiophile just a weekend enthusiast)
Understanding that front high is a relatively new option and not something to find as plug and play on my old amp.
What are my options and can it be done?
Regards
Nick
I think I may have found the solution in the way of bi-amplification setting on the unit.
It was something deep in the manual and you wouldn't find it unless your looking for it.

It's not a true bi-amp in the sense of using additional amplifier, but the unit can patch through the front source to the rear L&R channels.
This will go towards setting up a stronger and larger front stage, and will also be benificial in the future when moving to a more modern amp.
Will give it a go in the coming weeks and post my results should anyone else have the same dilemma.
EDIT: I have now read more into speaker placement and decided to go for 5.1.2 and place the two new speakers in accordance with the Dolby Atmos reccomendations.
