External Speakers for Bravia TV - simplest solution?

      Hello, I have a Sony KDL-37EX403 BRAVIA TV and a Sony BDP-S370 Blu-ray player. I would like to improve the sound by adding some external speakers and am wondering what the options are? Had a look around various web sites and got confused by the array of soundbars, receivers (with various options) , speakers etc.

     Ideally, I just want a woofer/sub-woofer to go on the bottom shelf of the tv stand, with perhaps a couple of other external speakers.

I am very pleased with a pair of Creative T20MkII active speakers fed from the audio output sockets (phono) of my TV - plenty of power and very good bass response from quite small boxes   - use the Tv's option to mute its own speakers.  Not cheap for PC speakers at around £60, but good value for the quality of sound, imo.
