Dolby vision on ubp x800

Pathetic Sony not intending to support Dolby vision on £400 premium blue ray player. Very poor - cheaper ubp x700 does. What's going on?

I have this Dolby Vision disappointment with my UBP-X800 too.  I bought what I thought was a good UHD Sony blu ray player last year.......  thought I was buying a product from a good brand.... And now they won’t do a firmware upgrade for Dolby Vision.  This is the way to lose brand loyalty.  There’s little point in leaving a comment for Sony as anyone with any idea of selling reliable products would have realised they were letting loyal customers down.

My TV, blu ray player and AVR are all Sony.  I was going to buy a replacement Sony AVR for Dolby Atmos - but after Sony letting me down it won’t be a Sony brand replacement any more!

I don't think is only a software/firmware thing...

Because in Some cases requires a chip specific for Dolby Vision, be it TV or BD player...

In TV's with the X1 Exterme, Sony's engineers needed to work heavily to make it work..

So we can only hope they do the same for the X800.
