Blu Ray player not recognising Blu Ray discs. Plays DVD and CD’s perfectly. Firmwear is up to date.

My Sony BDV 92000W will not now play Blu Ray discs. It plays DVD’s and CD’s perfectly. It is just over a year old.

The firmwear is up to date and discs and player are clean.

DVDs and CDs are read by one laser while Blu-Rays are read by another laser unit - if the one for Blu-Rays is damaged for some reason, that would explain the weird behavior of the player.

Thank you. I am keeping an eye on it because if I reboot it for a few minutes it seems to recognise Blu Rays, and play them perfectly.

Now I know how to make it work, it is just annoying that I have to do that.

i have contacted the service agent and will take it over there if it gets worse.
