Can anybody advise me whether it is possible to use the above speakers wired to the Sony STR-DN 1080 AV receiver. Many thanks.
Hi Keith,
I'll see if I can track down an answer. Maybe someone else in the community has an idea in the meantime.
Thanks,
Pascale
Hi Keithac,
I've checked the connection guide of both devices and it doesn't look like the amplifier has the suitable ports for the connection of the speakers of the audio system.
I'd recommend checking page 5 of the speaker's manual https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/res/manuals/4485/cbd8a64345d5cbfcf9f217ffbd6de6e5/4485821... and the Help guide of the amplifier : https://helpguide.sony.net/ha/strdn108/v1/en/contents/TP0001221317.html

Thanks for your guidance. I just wondered that if I changed the speaker cabling enabling connection between amp and speakers whether the speakers would operate successfully without ‘blowing’ I also wonder whether it is possible to wire in the sub as the amp appears only to have a jack outlet to the sub. Reason for these questions is that main unit appears to be failing. The current speaker set up fits in with my av cabinet and TV set up so looking for best solution.
Hi Keithac,
As far as I am aware, the amplifier should support speakers with nominal impedance of 6-16 ohms. I don't think the BDV speakers are compatible.

Hi thanks for your advice although when I checked the BDV speakers they all seem to be rated at 6 ohms.
I think changing complete system may be best option.
Just an update for information
I have connected the speakers to a Marantz NR 1710 AV receiver ( puts out 70 watts at 6 ohms) combined with an REL HT 1003 sub woofer.
To date all seems ok sound a definite improvement which confirms my suspicions that BDV N7200 was failing.
