BDV E300 connectef to a KD43XE7073 Very bad picture, any setting i should be aware of?

I have these two Sony machines, but it's like the two are incompatible.

Blu Rays look like bad rip off DVD's, DVD's look like Betamax rip offs on VHS...

Saw Blade runner 2049, very apprehensively, at the cinema.

The only reason i didn't want to watch it on my Home system was the NEW TV.

Really wish I'd watched it on my 15 yr old Sharp TV.

Permanently think I should switch back.

Is there a setiing for the BD player on the TV that will make it look good on the TV?

I REALLY don't want this to be my last Sony purchase... But it is close.

Hi @Natball22,

since the home theater system you use can in theory output very low resolutions as well, I would check for the output resolution first.

Maybe it is set to 480p/480i for some reason.

Setting it to 1080p should resolve your issue.

If you don't think this is the issue, it would be very helpful, if you could provide images of the menu-screens of the home-theater-system.

Also it would be very helpful, if you could check the TVs status display for the input resolution when playing back DVDs or BDs.

Hi Nic,

I think it resolved the matter, but the screen went blank after a coup[le of hours and then we had to send it to be fixed.

I'll let you know what the results are when it returns.

  Cheers.

Hi Nic,

We received a new TV, but the issue remains.

I've set the TV and BD to 1080p, but there is still a pixelation problem.

I thought I had worked it out a few times playing with the settings, but just been watching The Godfather Coppola reissues on BD and it looks like a pirated VHS.

This is after playing with the settings for a few months.

Giving up soon, and will go back to my old Sharp TV, it has a SCART plug but better picture.

  Any ideas?

  Thanks, Nathan.

Hi @Natball22,

it is simply impossible that a HDMI-signal looks worse than an analogue SCART-signal, unless the settings of the playback device are completly wrong.

It would still be very helpful if you could provide screenshots of the settings-screen of your TV/home theater system.

Hello @Natball22,

could you please select the option "Output Video Format" (on BD-Player) and show the screen which appears then?

Hello @Natball22,

if you select "HDMI" on this screen, which resolution is the output set to?
