CAN'T TRANSFER DATA TO SD CARD ON MY XPERIA M4 AQUA

Hi,  I know little to nothing about smart phones, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have an old Xperia M4 Aqua, and i can't transfer data to my sd card, to free up space. When i go into storage, and "Transfer data to SD card", the transfer button is fadded out, and doesn't work. Could someone help me please, with this problem? Thanks.
