Hi, every time I have a power cut the Tv and sound bar lose their link. Each time I’ve managed to get it back with a factory reset but this time it just won’t re-sync.
For some reason, when it doesn’t work, it seems to think the sound bar is a tv. See picture.
HDMI cable is fine and I’m using the right ARC socket.
Tv is KD49FX9005BU, Sound bar is HTCT290
Any help appreciated as it’s doing my head in
Hi there,
Welcome to the Sony Community.
Have you checked that your firmware is up to-date?
Best wishes,

Hi, thanks for replying.
Tv or soundbar? Tv says it’s up to date and not sure there’s an option to update the soundbar?
cheers
Hi @jonnorma,
Power cuts are not all that common in the UK. But they certainly would influence the connection protocol between the TV and SB. So if the sudden power cuts happen in your area, expect re-syncing to be required.
However, to fix the issue a Factory Data Reset on the TV should not be necessary in most cases. You would generally only need to switch off the option in [HOME] > [Settings] > [External Inputs] > [BRAVIA Sync Settings] > [BRAVIA Sync control]. After that you will receive a message asking if you intend to clear the list of registered devices from the TV. If you proceed to clear the list then re-enable the same option, your SB should immediately search and register itself with the TV.
What makes me very curious to know, is if the BRAVIA Sync connection would work properly if you would:
Your BRAVIA Sync device list should then not have UNKNOWN listed under the INPUT column. In certain conditions power cuts and power surges could damage the HDMI circuit board on your TV, resulting in malfuncioning of the BRAVIA Sync interface.
So in short I am afraid the mysterious 3rd device could be playing the culprit here. Please also post the current firmware revision of your TV in your response. You can easily check this by pressing the HELP button on your remote. The firmware revision is displayed in the top right corner of your screen.
Keep us posted!
Cheers,
Dutchice
Hi,
First of all I'm French so please excuse me english is not my first language. You may ask me why do I post here (on an old thread), because I've the same kind of issue and I don't know how to resolve it.
Here is my problem :
I have a TV Sony KD49XH8505BAEP since three weeks and a Sound Bar HT-CT290. Everything worked fine until today. I got no sound from the sound bar so I tried to reset it, reset the TV... nothing worked. I checked the Bravia Sync devices list and here is what I got :
As you can see on the photo, all my devices are identified even the HT-CT290 but now there is an "UNKNOWN" device connected PHILIPS HTS (which I never connected to my TV, I didn't even own this device). It takes control over the right sound bar and I can't delete it ! I try to clear the Bravia Sync Devices list but as soon as I plug my sound bar into the HDMI (arc or others ports have the same result) this annoying Unknown device come back.
One more thing when I try to change my TV sources (on photo below) the "PHILIPS HTS" appears with a "shadow" HDMI icon and when I try to select it the sources menu disapears and nothing happen.
As I said earlier I try to reset both my TV and Sound Bar and it doesn't solve the problem, yesterday everything was fine, I came back from work and I got the problem. Nobody home (except the cats ^^) so I don't know what to do.
Maybe you can help me, thank you in advance.
[Edit] : I tried to unplug everything one by one and don't ask me why but when I unplugged my PS4 everything went right again, I plug it again and it works. The unknow device disapeared. I don't understand what happened, sorry to bother you.
Allô! I think your cats are controlling the TV
Seriously, here's what I think from what you said, the note you left saying when you disconnected the PS4 everything went right again. You might want to start there.
But, you can try the following:
-Clear cached data from the TV: Home- Settings- Device preferences- storage etc.
-When you say reset, do you mean factory reset? Or soft reset with the remote? If you didn't try the factory reset, give it a try.
-Try changing the HDMI cable of the PS4.
Let me know if these steps worked.
