A couple of weeks after the last automatic update of my Android TV, the user interface of all applications (I suppose image overlay on top of the video signal got broken. The apps (including the built-in Home screen, TV settings, etc.) would render with artefacts, skewed, or would just display black or partially black screen. Most of the apps, uncluding the main settings are virtually unusable as I am not able to browse the menus and issue commands or set settings.
On the other hand, TV signal, and any other video (for example, streaming from smartphone or laptop) shows perfectly.
I tried resetting to factory defaults but this did not help. I managed to set up the TV after the reset only because it saw my smart phone and I was able to control the setup process from the phone.
Looks like a software problem. I tried checking for a software update but I am already on the latest one. I am not sure if applying the latest firmware (the same version) again from USB is a good idea or it can totally wreck the TV.
It is very annoying as I cannot use the smart functions of the TV to their full potential. I cannot even set up my audio system because I am not able to reach the settings screen. The UI would either not render, or not respond.
Has anyone seen similar issue? Is there anything else I can do?
