Hello,
I recently installed a Plex Client Application on the KDL43W755 Android TV. The movies are displayed well, except for the type DTS 5.1 sound, which is not played. Did I miss some setting on the Plex App, on the Plex Server or on the general TV settings? Any help will be appreciated.
Gilbert
Hi there
Have a look at the following couple of threads on the plex forums:
https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/216058/sony-xbr-55x900c-and-no-surrond-sound-only-stereo
https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/196646/plex-app-and-no-dts-5-1-try-dlna-and-transcode
Also, from what I gather, it works fine over a HDMI connect, but optical is the problem. Can you confirm that you are using sn optical connection and to what system (make/model)
Cheers
Check the passtrough settings in the plex app, fixed it for me

Cool - thanks for confirming and the link
Hi,
I am not using a optical connection. I am trying to use only the tv set, not other external devices, only TV's speakers. The Plex Server is installed on a raspberry pi 2, I have another tv set (Samsung) and the sound work perfect using Samsung's Plex Client. On the Sony TV (plex client) I tryed setting the Passthrough on auto, on and off and nothing is changed (I don't think it is influencing anything if i don't use an external sound system).
Thank you
If you are only using TV speakers, you are only going to get stereo audio (i.e. 2.0) - am i missing something here?
That should be OK, but I don't have sound at all when the movie is DTS.
Hi @Gilbert78
I dont know what model TV you have, so i have taken the model from this thread as an example (i.e. KDL-43W755C).
If you look at this page:
http://helpguide.sony.net/tv/caep1/v1/en/contents/TP_codeclist_other.html
It tells you the supported codecs. Only MKV files supports the DTScore audio codec. You will probably need to enable audio transcoding on your plex server.
Cheers
