Hi,
I have just had this TV delivered today to replace my old 43 inch sony android tv.
im trying to connect my sound system which uses a headphone socket, this previously worker with no problems on my old tv, but now I’m getting no sound. I can’t find any settings to enable the sound to come through that connection, the only think I can find is to direct sound through the tv speakers or sound system but when I select sound system no sound comes out.
when I go to sources it lists that there is something connected but it just shows as an AV device.
can anyone help?
thanks
Hi @andy3050uk
I would experiment with the Headphone/Audio out settings. Settings -> Sound -> Headphone/Audio out.
To be honest, if your audio system only connects via the headphone socket then it is well past its use by date 😀
Hi @LightFoot
that setting is not on my tv, there is actually very little options in the sound sections
these are what I have:
And it’s only a 5 year old 2.1 pc speaker system, probably still better than most tv sound systems to this day
Hi @andy3050uk
The TV Speakers / Audio system is for HDMI connected devices.
What is under Sound customisation? There must be a setting somewhere to allow TV Speakers and Headphones at the same time or not.
Hi @LightFoot
under sound customisation is just to tweak the sound option for the app you are currently in.
I've searched everywhere, the option was simple on my old tv which had the old version of android gave you the option of tv speakers or headphones.
Hi @andy3050uk
Looking at your web manual it’s appears your TV no longer supports Headphones and TV speakers at the same time which leads to no settings. In 2020 they expect that you connect an audio system by HDMI or the now old Optical connection. I suspect you will need a work-a-round like using the Optical out. Just one example:
Andy, what do you mean by ‘no sound’?
The way my setup runs, feeding a soundbar that must likewise be well beyond its sell-by date according to @LightFoot , yet which still gives the best soundbar sound in the house, and is rock solid in operation compared with the YSP2500 downstairs, is that it is plugged into the headphone out of our bedroom Samsung TV.
Which mutes, and replaces, the internal speakers of the TV, which we don’t want playing as well, and is then controlled by the simple expedient of turning the TV volume up and down.
If your KD49XH81 has a headphone socket at all (and I presume it does!) then you should be able to get sound out of it. Have you tried the simple expedient of plugging a set of headphones into the socket, to see if you get sound that way?
NB: the soundbar in question also supports Optical and Bluetooth, though not HDMI. (Even one or two very recent soundbars were holdouts against HDMI). But the output from the TV is fixed on each of these; so the headphone out is the only thing that offers us the automatic speaker muting and the volume control from the TV remote that we are accustomed to from the YSP2500.
