Hello,
My 4K Sony (model KD-55X8005C) is stuck on the initial setup screen and goes back to the Welcome (the screen where you're asked to pick a language) screen in an infinite loop after choosing any of the two options on the Location (the screen where it asks you whether you want to share the location with Google) screen after I did a settings reset.
I've googled this issue and found many people who have experienced the same exact issue (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf9JFNk_ju0 & https://community.sony.com/t5/4K-Ultra-HD-TV/Stuck-with-initial-setup-screens-on-my-Sony-Bravia-4k-A... & https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/45sw8t/sony_android_tv_saferecovery_mode/).
I have tried factory resetting the device (holding down the power button on the TV together with the up arrow on the remote control), installing a fresh firmware via a USB drive (it told me the firmware is already up to date and I couldn't find a way to force it to continue) but nothing seemed to work!
Is there a solution to this bug?

@aoriol I was put out to pasture quite a while ago. It's good to know I can still be useful.:smileyhappy:
This is great news. Thanks for your kind words.
Is it possible or easy for you to write down in a post the whole detailed procedure that you used to solve?
This should be very helpful for other members with similar issues since Sony is usualy absent
My apologies for starting this thread again. It would have been great if you guys had formed kindof a sticky with procedures to solve this issue, so many branches while trying to understand the process you went through.
I am undergoing similar problem, and not able to opt for replacement as it is not easily feasible from my location.
Problem : Infinite loop of "language screen > WiFi-selection" (Doesn't go to the location menu like it did for the Original Author)
The TV (KDL-W55800D) was working perfectly fine till the initial-config option was invoked by mistake. One good thing is, I enabled the developer options, however the adb debugger wasnt touched. Please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.
Hi @firefly414
I suppose you mean KDL-55W800D Android TV.
Try these two :
Try firstly to access Safe Mode:
https://sony-paa-pa-en-web--paa.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/129220
Then check if you can perform a Factory reset.
If Safe Mode cannot be accessed try a Forced Factory Reset(Option C):
https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/75705/
Hello,
Thanks for the quick reply, didnt expect this soon. I am able to access safe & service mode. But not able to find any factory reset options in safe mode. Also, tried the option C reset, didn't get the green light. Is that a feature of my current TV ?
You are welcome.
Is the latest Firmware installed on your TV ? If not then try downloading on USB from your region support page and check if possible to perform through Safe Mode.
Home -> Settings -> Storage & reset

Can't find your TV model in EU or UK. Only Australia and India. Is this the exact Model?
Safe mode is same as normal mode, not able to do/change anything, the same "Welcome > Language selection > WiFi selection" loop is happening.
I checked for Android & Firmware updates just several hours before this happened. And, yes, this is the model : KDL-55W800D. Am posting here, since someone has similar issue.
What are my options now ?
Hi @firefly414
Even though your TV is not a UK/EU model, I understand your reasonings for posting here. However occasionally different regions experience the same problem but the fix or resolution is region specific.
However, try this link as its specific to your problem:
https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/73159/
Cheers
Hi again
I think that if those two options do not work then aoriol or angelacr are the only ones that might help you with ADB USB .
If yet impossible then a Sony Service Center must be called. The most usual solution is a Main board change.
Aoriol writes that: "As for enabling the debugging thing, I was simply bruteforcing through the Select Language -> Select Network.. blabla thing for a million times (quite literally) and then all of the sudden it let me in"
Did you try power OFF your WiFI Router modem during boot? This might bypass.
