Have just finished setting up the new sundbar to y tv and results seem OK so far. However I have one issue.
I have connected my two nput devices - Virgin V6 box and Xbox to the two HDMI inputs on the soundbar and connected the tv and soundbar using the ARC enabled hdmi ports on both.
I can use the tv remote to change the hdmi port to select the xbox, but the hdmi port for the Virgin box is not displayed on screen so I have to revert to the soundbar remote to change the input channel.
I know the Virgin V6 box does not have CEC control so this could be the issue but should that stop the related hdmi port being selectable by the tv remote?
Hope this makes sesne!
Hi @stevie1965
Sorry this is not related to your question but I am seriously thinking about getting a HT-ZF9 to compliment my Sky Q which broadcasts Dolby Atmos. In your opion what is the sound quality like and does the immersive surround sound actually work or is it just a gimmick. I would buy the SA-Z9R Wireless Rear Speakers as well.
Your question, have you looked in the Sync Menu (Action Sync Menu or Sync Menu remote button). There should be an option to Control Audio System. I have an old HT-AS5 and selecting Control Audio System allows me to change HDMI inputs.
Thanks
Paul.
Try swapping the Xbox and Virgin box for one another on the soundbar.
My guess is that when you select, with the TV remote, the HDMI port that the soundbar is connected to (the ARC one) then the soundbar has to default in some way to one of its HDMI ports to get a signal to pass through, and it chooses one of these possibilities:-
Always HDMI 1;
The HDMI port on the soundbar you were last watching (which may or may not survive it being put in Standby);
The first HDMI port on the soundbar that is giving a live signal.
Or some clever combination of the above.
You can resolve this by a close reading of the manual perhaps, or by experimenting with the actual kit.
But I don’t know a button on the TV remote that does ‘choose one of the soundbar HDMIs’.
(Though maybe somebody else does?)
Obviously, you can press the Home button on the soundbar remote, and then see a display on the TV of the HDMI options on the soundbar.
But you don’t want to use the soundbar remote....
