The connection between Sony XD8588 and Philips soundbar HTL7140B is lost after every switch off of the TV. The connection is by HDMI-ARC. I have tried all possible setups by TV menu changing different HDMI cable, but the result is one ane the same - it is necessery to do a hard reset of the TV in order to connect to the soundbar. The devices have the latest software versions. Where could be the problem?
Did you try the "classical" fix? First a reboot (press poweroff on the remote till the TV reboot) and then, if not solved, a factory reset
HDMI digital sound out settings might help and they are as below
2: Home>Settings>Sound>Digital Audio Out. Choices: Auto 1, Auto 2, PCM. Some X850C owners have had to use the Auto 2 setting to get DD 5.1 output from the TV. Unlcear at this point why...but you could probably try each setting and determine which provides the best results on your system. To use ARC, connect an HDMI cable from HDMI4 on the TV to your receiver's HDMI input to send audio to your receiver via HDMI. Receiver must also support ARC. There is a known issue w/the Kodi app where the Kodi developers recommend choosing PCM to output 5.1 from Kodi via ARC or Optical cable to external audio system/speakers.
Also see below info regarding ARC issues
ARC allows you to use one HDMI cable to send sound from the TV to your reciever, and send video from your receiver to the TV. (You can also use ARC to send audio to a soundbar.) To use ARC you mustconnect the HDMI cable to HDMI4 on the TV. Any video inputs from a receiver can go to the TV over that cable, and the TV can send audio to the receiver (or soundbar) on that same cable. If you are using apps on the TV (Netflix, Amazon, etc.) the sound from those apps will get to from the TV to your receiver or soundbar over that HDMI cable.
Settings required on your TV and on your connected device(s) to use ARC:
TV:
* Home>Settings>External Inputs>Bravia Sync settings; Enable Bravia Sync
* Home>Settings>Sound>Speakers. Set to Audio System
* Home>Settings>Sound>Digital Audio Out. As noted above, some owners have had to set to Auto 2 to get DD/DTS surround sound from the TV. Your results could be different, you can start with Auto 2 and see if that works for you.
* Use the HDMI4 connection on the TV - that is the only ARC-enabled HDMI port on the TV!
Receiver/Soundbar:
* Enable Bravia Sync (Sony device) or HDMI-CEC (non-Sony device). Companies use different names for HDMI-CEC - see table to the right for some examples. You need to figure out if your device supports HDMI-CEC and enable it.
When using ARC with the X850C it is common to see both the TV's and your receiver's volume display on screen when changing volume. This is just a visual issue, and there is othing you can do about it, it's an annoyance that you will have to ignore.
NOTE: When using ARC you may need to completely reboot or power off both the tv and receiver if you are having issues.
First try rebooting them (long press on Power button on TV to reboot TV, turn receiver off/on). If that doesn't work, completely unplug the TV and receiver, wait 30 seconds, then plug back in. sometimes there's weirdness with HDMI.
ALSO: HDMI-CEC has a limit on the number of devices of given types that can be addressed. The "Player" category only allows 3 devices: e.g. BD Player, PS4, K8500 = 3. So if you have four HDMI-CEC player devices connected TV, ARC will not work.
All settings are correct. The TV finds the soundbar and names it on the port. The problem comes with the next switch on of the TV. It connects the soundbar for 3-4 seconds and after that the soundbar starts to blink. On the TV port is written only 'audio system' without the name of the model. I have tried all possible settings but the result is one and the same - the TV needs a hard reset to connect again the soundbar. XD8588 does not have such sound choices: Auto1, Auto2, PCM.
Hi there
Do you have any other HDMI devices connected to the TV or the soundbar? If so, can you fully disconnect them and re-test. Sometimes its another HDMI device than is interferring.
If it works, add one device at a time and test between each - you should then find out which device/s is causing an issue.
If this is not the case, please post back
Cheers
