Banner drops down showing HDMI 1 etc when there is a change in source or using remote

Viewing a programme if I use remote or if there is a change of feed or source such as a commercial I get sometimes a black banner dropping down saying HDMI2 or suchlike. No luck with Sony own experts. Any ideas folks
