I get intermittent Blackouts on the screen whilst watching 3D films, they last about 4 seconds. There is no set pattern to when it happens and it only happens with 3D films, 2D are fine. For time scale it's probably been happening within the last month (May/June/2018). The TV is a Bravia 65" Curve (65S8005C) and the Bluray Player is a Sony S6700, I am convinced that it is a result of a Software Update. Software version is PKG5.381.0167EUB. Anybody out there experienced the same?

Hi Merlin,
Since the TV can display 3D content from different sources, I suggest trying to watch 3D content from the Youtube App on the TV just to see if the issue is related to the source and if the issue doesn't happen, I'd start by trying a different HDMI cable between the player and TV, maybe different discs or trying a different player if possible.
P.S. It's always a good idea to make sure that the player is up to date too.

Thank you for your reply.
I have tried various 3D films, the Blackouts have no fixed pattern of regularity in any film. Three separate players have been tried, BDP-S780, BDP-S6700 and a UBP-X800. All have the same issue. The TV has had a factory reset, I have used all the HDMI ports, the HDMI port is configured the accept the highest quality, the HDMI cables are to the most recent standard. I don't hold much value in streaming 3D films as an additional element of the way they were uploaded, nevertheless I tried and the quality was awful, it didn't matter if I wore my glasses or not. My only course of action is to rollback the firmware upgrade that took place as that appears to be the culprit as it was working before. Can this be done? Regards
Hi @Merlin712,
while I don't doubt, that the HDMI-cable is up to the most recent standards, I suggest to try another cable anyways.

Thank you for message Nic. When the issue first manifested, I did as a course of action replace the HDMI cables ensuring they they adhered to the latest 2.1 version. What in your opinion would point to cable issue? The issue is intermittent, and up until fairly recently had been working fine with the previous HDMI cable. It only occurs with 3D films.
Regards
Hello @Merlin712,
I suspect it is a cable issue since the issue only happens with 3D films which supply a video stream with twice the resolution and therefore require nearly twice the bitrate, meaning that if the data stream gets interrupted or reduced some way, the described freezes or missing frames can occur.
That would also explain, why it doesn't happen with normal 2D HD movies.
Maybe other cables or devices do induct a magnetic field into the cable and this causes the issue.
Is your cable properly shielded against such outer influences?

Thanks again Nic. I only purchased the replacement cables due to this issue on the 10th of May, after the Black outs were first noticed on the 30th of April. I had just started using Sony TDG-BT500A glasses. Anyway, I went through the standard fault finding procedure, eliminating items and where possible swapping others out, I have a number of Sony Bluray players, so they were first, fault consistent, HDMI cables next, new purchased (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003JC3AI0/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Still no improvement. However my suspicion is a firmware update the Television received. However, as advised by you, the cables are the most obvious I have bought another new set ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006JSGGXM/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ). If this doesn't work I will be concentrating on the reversal of the firmware update that I believe is at the root of the Black outs, and if it's not that then the Television is at fault, which will be a real shame as it has a spectacular UHD picture, but only in 2D!
Regards
