I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!
1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. Further details on this thread: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/kd-49x8305c-hdmi-2-3-4-inputs-not-working/td-p/1944435
2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.
3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. A temporary (albeit for advanced users only) workaround is provided by MikeLothian on this thread - https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/netflix-support-for-kd55x8509c-android-tv/td-p/1945360
4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.
As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.
I am having the same issue with the ethernet on my kd55x8509c, but I am not 100% sure if it's related to the firmware. The technician came today to replace the main board but could not boot the TV with the new one. The tv was playing the intro music, like after a factory reset, but there was no picture so he could not load the firmware. He placed the old one back, so the problem with the ethernet remains. Still trying to figure out a solution..! I've waisted another day with this stupid tv.
Not sure if it's of any help but I also have the 8509c which I updated the day the latest release came out. I have had no problems with the Ethernet connection before or after the update. In fact, it runs much better than I ever expected given our maximum broadband speed is 16mb/s.
Just had a new issue arrise that i havent seen before.
Installed the new update the day it came out. In the last hour the TV (KDL-43W805) has turned itself on and it goes to the bluetooth settings screens. It has done this twice.I havent even been in the room when it has done this.
Has anyone else eperienced this ?
P
Thank you for the info, but I am not sure either. It seems that some of these problems are not widely spreaded... But it is very weird for the ethernet to stop working without a reason. Sony's technician verified the problem.
New picture quality issue. A really odd one, which I didn't mention before as I thought it a one off. It has now happened twice. It affected two different HDMI inputs and I think the built in receiver. Don't know what provokes it but will be looking out for more indications. I think it is triggered by switching inputs, but it never happened prior to the update. Has anyone else seen this?
Intermittent Picture Quality since update
@frogger38 we have the same thing i.e. "....there is a new? Issue, which I though was resolved...
For us this has been the same since we got the tele in July 2015. Since the HDD PAP upgrade it is now every time, instead of most of the time, and whenever the guide is accessed.
It seems to be more than a flicker: the guide screen displays fully, then the screen goes black for a moment, before the guide screen reappears (or, going in the other direction, the TV channel screen).
I think it was once said that Sony 'could not reproduce it' but then a couple of updates ago that it 'had been resolved' . Very strange.
EPG Flickering upon accessing:

Are you both saying that this problem has returned?
I have just tested this on mine (YouView disabled) and this issue is not present. I do get a flicker upon exiting the EPG (off-on-off)
Cheers
@Anonymous on our Tv the on-off-on when accessing the guide did not go away at all (YouView disabled from the start), and currently, upon opening the guide, it is present every time. I did not do a factory reset after every software update but did so after the recent HDD update.
PS we don't have satellite connected, but could it possibly be something to do with there being a pair of terrestrial tuners?
@Anonymous @scoopy6
I was watching a Freeview Channel (Youview disabled) on seeing your post pressed GUIDE, guide came up with black background, then snapped off for 1/2 second then came back with the programme playing in the background. It doesn't happen every time but about 1 in 4 times. Not sure how it was before as I was using Youview until I added the HDD. The Youview seemed to behave better.
