I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!
1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. Further details on this thread: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/kd-49x8305c-hdmi-2-3-4-inputs-not-working/td-p/1944435
2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.
3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. A temporary (albeit for advanced users only) workaround is provided by MikeLothian on this thread - https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/televisions/netflix-support-for-kd55x8509c-android-tv/td-p/1945360
4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.
As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.

The Opera Tv store, has loads of app not available in the Google play store, I'm using a few already. Any you download do not appear in the home menu, you need to save them in Opera Tv, my apps section. To run them you need to go back int Opera Tv, so a few more key presses. It would be good if we could set a shortcut in the homepage. It is just an alternative to Google play as a provider of apps.
A factory reset seems to have fixed my receiver ARC issue.
I realise some people are still having bugs, but the main request I have now is for 5.1 from ALL apps that support it - especially Google Play Movies, Kodi, and when casting.
I have a Nexus Player and Chromecast plugged directly into my receiver and both allow 5.1 from Google Play Movies.
My Wifi connection is dropping all the time. After this happens, my TV can't find our network. Then suddenly and out of the blue it can connect again after a couple of hours(with no change).
A reboot doesn't do anything.
Has anybody experiencied this?
Yes I am seeing this WiFi issue too. Usually it drops out and re-connects within a minute or so but it does it very regularly. This only started with this firmware version as far as I can tell.
After the recent 5.1 Lollipop update I've been having some of the issues noted in the past pages, still poor lip sync over HDMI, TV not starting from standby without a plug out reboot, etc.
The final straw was that I couldn't connect to the internet to update apps, or get into the Play Store, even though the TV was connected via ethernet and all my other devices were OK. Connecting by WiFi didn't help.
I finally bit the bullet and did a factory reset, which has restored some normality, lip sync has much improved on Netflix over HDMI, the digital guide is populating much faster, the interface is much snappier, the TV seems to respond to button presses faster, and so on.
I should have done a factory reset from day one of the 5.1 update, and I would recommend it to anyone with annoying issues.

I have simliar issues. Although when I scrolll down to Settings, my Wifi connection can be seen. I just click on it again and it seems to fix the problem. No need for a reboot.
But why should we have to perform a factory reset every time we have a firmware update? I don't have to do that with my Macs, iPad or iPhone. At the very least, as someone else has pointed out, there should be a way of fully backing up the TV's settings to either external USB or via the user's gmail account.
I've only had my KD-49X8305C for 5 weeks and have only downloaded three apps from the Google Play store. But it still took me over half an hour to reset the TV back to the various settings I had previously entered. Then to cap it all, I got the lack of ethernet connection bug, that only was corrected by first connecting to WiFi and then forgetting the WiFi network.
I am a self-confessed tech geek and I am losing patience with the TV at times. How on Earth are normal mortals meant to cope?
But I am very happy with the picture quality.
This was a major OS update, from Android 5.0 -> 5.1, let's hope that the same hard reset isn't required for minor ones, but it's a small price to pay if it cures some of the instabilities and bugs, IMHO.
Hi all
In regards to the WIFI issues you have been reporting, I have added it to the list of bugs and issues.
