sony alpha 200 & 290 focussing

hi all, i,m new here so please forgive me if i am asking something that has been asked before.

I have a Sony Alpha 200 & a  Sony Alpha 290. I use various filters such as Skylight, Closeup, ND & Circular Polorizing filters.

All filters except for the Circular Polorizing filters work perfectly on both of my Sony lenses which are 18-70 & 70-300.

When i use the Circular Polorizing filter the camera cannot focus.

Is this somehow a camera fault or a fault on two of the filters?

Are you sure they are Circular Polarising filters? They sound like they may be Linear Polarizers to me.  LP only works with film (video) and manual focus cameras.
