Hey there,
I have an idea which is a workaround to the limitations of camera sensors:
Obviously sensors can just collect a limited ammount of light, so the dynamic range suffers drastically...
Why not "just" let each individual pixel drain it's load everytime it's full and get back to collecting light, count the number of drainouts and add to that the last fill value at each pixel.
then each pixel's total value gets read at readout, giving you a drastically higher dynamic range without having to increase capacity of each pixel.
in practice you would have to take into account the time it takes for each pixel to drain and add the ability to count the ammount of drains under each pixel.
- Faster drain speeds would immediately improve the noise ratio for this.
what do you think of this idea?
see any big problems?
and to the sony team: i have more ideas ready and i'm pretty good at figuring out improvements.
looking forward to responses
Hey Lardah, I'm not sure about this suggestion, but as I always say it's always better to contact Sony directly: https://services.sony.co.uk/supportmvc/en/contact?cpint=spt-footer_contact
