dslr 350 alpha - problem with memory card

I have a Sony DSLR -A350 camera.  I bought a CF Adapter and an extreme pro SDXC UHS-1 card - 128 GB/Speer up to 200 MB/s.  However the card is not recognised by the camera.  If I insert an older 8GB card into the adapter, that works fine.  Could anyone advise if I can do anything to make the larger card usable!

Unsure how CF to SD adapter can actually work fine on a camera.

Anyway it seems that flash larger than 8GB are not supported
