Xperia 5 no SMS alert

After trying everything,checking everything,my new Xperia 5 is still not alerting me when I receive a SMS ....all other alert tones work just not sms......could my handset be faulty ??? I'm goin crazy over this !!!

can you try to boot to safe mode by long tapping power off. from there can you try to check if the sms alert works,

There is a chance another app is interfering.

What happens when you install Signal as your SMS app.

Yes that's what the problem was ....a pesky app !! Now deleted and phone is working 100% .
