Lost Channels AND Screen

Like many others my RDR HXD 970 lost channels and stuck on 'Update' on July 19th. After following various tips to get over the problem, I am now stuck in 'Easy Setup' on the display, but I am unable to carry out the setup because the screen is blacked out and I cannot respond to the instructions.

Anyone else arrived at this catch 22 situation?

Yes...

We live near Leicester. Our HXD970 has shown 'up date' since Friday.

Tried resetting all FreeView channels. It found 220 channels but would not permit them to be selected.

Tried updating firmware and factory reset. No effect.

Will play DVDs or HD files if powered off and on.

Other TVs in the house work on FreeView so I assume that this is an interaction of a change on the FreeView network with a particular type of FreeView decoder?

I presume (hope?) that Sony will find and resolve this problem rather that lose the goodwill of so many customers...
