Have Sony tv and vcr. Bought tapes play OK home recorded one roll vertically. Any answers why?

I am surprised the community haven’t jumped on this one already, or have we all forgotten how to use VCR's?!

From the details you have provided this vertical roll during playback can usually be resolved by adjusting the tracking on the player. If you have the model numbers to hand I may be able to provide more detail on how to do this.

The TV is a KDL32S3000 and the VCR is an SLVSE820G. I have never had much joy with recording from this TV. Never seem to be able to select the right channel, especially with timed recordings. I also believe I have to leave the TV on standby for it to record.
