Hi guys,

I was hoping someone would be able to help me with a problem i am having with my Sony BDP s380 blue ray player.

The player is connected to my Denon AVR1610 amp and has been giving me problems for the 3 weeks i have had the player.

When i watch a blue ray the sound is fine as long as its not a hd audio signal been fed to the amp. If i try to watch the film with HD audio no sound is produced to the speakers, but the amp is saying it is receiving the HD signal. When i say there is no sound i mean i can hear what is on screen (only just) if the amp is on full volume (+20db). If i tried to watch a film normally at that volume i would be deaf!!!

I have the blue ray player set up as instructed in the manual and my old blue ray player (2 year old Panasonic BP35) works just fine with this amp.

I can sometimes get the HD sound to work if i constantly keep pressing the audio button (on the remote) to go through the different languages (these though are NOT a HD audio file) but this could take anything between 5-10 mins which is just not good enough.

Any help or advice would be much apprecated as when everything is working the picture & sound quality is top notch.

Many thanks in advance.
