topic Sony BDP-S480 choppy AVCHD playback in Home Cinema, Projectors & Players

I recently bought the BDP-S480 and am having trouble playing my home videos in the mts format. The videos look very choppy and the details bar shows that they are playing in 1080p/60. I think this is the problem since my camcorder (Panasonic SD600) shoots video in PAL (25fps).

The only way I can get the videos to play smoothly is when the output is set to 576i in the screen settings menu. Any other setting forces the playback into 60Hz mode which is of no use in the UK. Obviously this defeats the purpose of HD video so is there any way to get the output to 1080p/50 or even 1080p/25?

I bought the player mainly to stream home videos over the network but Sony seems to have overlooked the fact that UK owners may want to play videos at the native 50Hz...

Does anyone know if its possible to change the playback mode to 50hz (25fps). If not then the player is going back.

Message was edited by: nhawan

Message was edited by: nhawan

I've had this blu-ray player for only a couple of days and found the exact same issue. Very annoying as I was looking for a player that would be usable with video from my Sony HX100v.. but this isn't it. Its enough to make me want to return it.

Have you had any luck with a solution?
