Sony BDP-370 - Failing to recognize blu-ray discs

Hi All

My BDP-S370 has recently failing to recognize blu-ray discs -

i have had the player for over a year now however

I also have a PS3 which plays blu-rays fine and the problem started around about the time when I put my PS3 ontop of the player. due to lack of space on the stand.

It however plays DVD's absolutely fine - however when you put a blue ray in - you hear it spin the disc, there is a lot of "clunking" going on and it says "unregonised disc" "unable to initialize" or other messages.

eject the disc, re-load and it will read fine, I used a disc cleaner and the problem went away for a few weeks but it is back again - the discs that I am using are brand new and not marked (finger prints etc).

To test I have removed the PS3 and I put the Tivo box on top (which is significantly lighter) and the problem is sill apparent so I removed everything from the top and have done a quick test and it (at the moment) seems fine only my PS3 now has to sit on the carpet as I have run out of space.

Has anyone else had similar issues?

Does putting something on top of the player really effect it that bad?, if so would that be the same for all other manufacturers of players?

if the problem is still apparent over the next few weeks what do you think the problem would be, i have run the disc cleaner 4 time now?
