Sony Theatre 8 Remote not turning up volume or showing on screen

Can anyone help please? I have set up my Sony Theatre 8 correctly with my new Sony Bravia 8 OLED and sound is great and all working. Apart from the soundbar remote - when using the volume doesn’t show up on the screen nor does it increase the volume very much at all - is there an easy fix? Thanks

Please describe ‘correctly’.

But if you have it running in eARC mode, then I would expect the volume to be controlled by the TV, and the TV remote, not by the soundbar remote.

Though if you plugged something in the HDMI In of the soundbar, then I would expect the soundbar remote to control the sound level. Have you tried this?

@Treaders Can you try to swap the HDMI ends and test again.
