BDP-S1700 won't play track 3 out of 4 in multidisc DVD set

I've recently bought a 90-disc set of DVDs each of which contains 4 tracks. And on every single one the bluray player refuses to play the third while playback of 1, 2 and 4 is no problem. All tracks - including the third - play back on my PC with no difficulty, suggesting there is no fault with the discs.

Any ideas about what's going on here would be much appreciated.

Have you checked that your firmware is up to date? https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/home-video-blu-ray-disc-players-recorders/bdp-s1700/downloads/00015911
If it is faulty and still within warranty you should contact the Retailer. Failing that you can contact Sony UK Support

I updated the firmware but the problem persists. As suggested I've contacted Sony UK Support.

No, I'm afraid not. And a factory reset didn't help either.

So since the device is out of warranty, I've switched to a different make of player that has no problem with any of the tracks.
