&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The reason you connect a laptop/PC to a TV is for the display (ie bigger, in lounge room etc).&amp;nbsp; Why not purchase a small pair of speakers to add to your laptop instead of using the TV's speakers - as you said, not very economical.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Have a look at the solution that Jan2011 posted in the following thread:&lt;/P&gt;

      <title>SONY 55KDL853 Using only speakers</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;So I've got my laptop connected to the Bravia using it as extra screen, but when im not using the screen, only speakers I feel im wasting power. Is there a way to turn the screen on standby while yet getting use of the speakers in the stand?&lt;/P&gt;</description>
