Hi,

I have a Sony Vaio FS295-XP laptop with 512MB of ram. I am having trouble with ram I have purchased. The ram module is from crucial and is compatible. I have installed it in slot 2 in the laptop.

With the extra ram installed sometimes the laptop powers on fine othertimes it does not I have to remove the extra ram for the laptop to power up. I have also noticed that the battery is completely dead after about a week left not used? With or without the extra ram installed?

I suspected the ram slot 2 so removed the crucial ram from the laptop and swapped the existing sony ram from slot 1 to slot 2 of the laptop, slot 1 is empty. I tried switching on the laptop and it is completely dead. I then swapped the ram from slot 2 back to slot 1 and it powered up fine.

I suspect a problem with the hardware somewhere, the laptop is still under warranty - has anyone come across this problem before.I am trying to leave an e-support with sony but the e-support system is down at the moment.

Thanks for any help you can all provide,
Paul.
