shut down

Dear All,
I hope you are all enjoying the xmas, mine is not so good coz my vaio is sick.

after changing the OS from home to xp pro,,the system cannot shutdown automatically and also it cannot take the PCI device and no sound, what should i do? can antbody help.

Hi,
What laptop do you have?
For the PCI device, do you even have sound/Modem yet?
You might need \UAA High Definition Audio Class driver

Do you have a camera? Did you install the patch for it as that prevents shutdown too

give us more details towork on

I have a vaio FE31M,
i mean the PCI cannot instal\
and also the sound device and shut down,

ok, here are the full details,
i have changed the system, then using the recovery disc, i was able to reinstall the camera, and other drivers except the modem, and something called PCI which is giving a very big question mark on device managers when i right click on my computer icon.
i was following the procedure given by one of club members here, so as per now, there is no sound in my vaio and the camera is working ,
and the vaio cannot shut down.
please tell me where to get the patch because am not very good at computers,

OK, well the PCI Device is your SoundCard... and I know for the camera on the SZ series, you need to install a patch first otherwise it can cause instability when shutting down.
The drivers may be on the support website... problem is I cannot get on there because of Sony restricting their area with serial number of your laptop.
Obviously, I can get in for my own drivers for the SZ.
Have a look in the support area and see if the original driver pack is there... if so, you can grab it from there.
