Hi,
This is my second Vaio- C1z/B - nice and portable with plenty of HD space unlike my old Vaio PCG-GRZ615G which suddenly
died with an unrepairable motherboard problem. I hope my latest Vaio lasts longer than 4 years !!

Anyway, I was wondering if its possible to put my old hard drive
into one of those small cases and use it via USB as an external
storage drive after reformatting and can I still access my old files
on it, or would the operating system cause a problem.
As you may gather I am up on the technicalities of these things.

Dave

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum.

This is perfectly feasible, but don’t format the drive or you will lose all data. Just install the drive in the caddy and attach it to your new machine via USB and you should be able to access all files.
