Spacebar and jumping cursor

Bought a Sony Vaio VGN-AR21M just over a month ago. Occasionally when typing, pressing the spacebar causes the cursor to jump. For example, typing in notepad today the cursor jumped to the following rows from the point it should have been.

2 Rows up
2 Rows down
11 Rows up
4 Rows up
6 Rows Down

This was over a ten minute period. The jumping is intermittent.

Has anyone else had this problem. I tend to think its a faulty keyboard unless anyone has any other ideas.

Hi Vic,

You are probably either touching the mousepad or your hands are getting close enough to activate it.

Try going to Control Panel -> Mouse or to Vaio Contol Centre -> Keyboard and Mouse and see if you can find "Turn off tapping while Typing" or words to that effect (I am on a desktop at the moment and can't check).

If there is a setting for 'Web Assistant' you could try turning that off as well.

Thank you for your reply.

Not touching the mousepad as I only type using two (sometimes 3) fingers lol so my hands are not resting anywhere near the pad.
