Tuner problem (VGN-AR21M)

Please excuse my basic explanations, I'm a total novice with computers.

When using the TV function on my laptop, using the built in TV function via media centre, sometimes it works but some times it will work for a minute or so then lose the signal, when I try to restart it it says the tuner is not installed, I go to hadware config and the tuner is flagged up as no driver installed, when I try to instal the driver it says it cannot find it, also sometimes when I start up the computer it comes up "new hardware found" and again can't find the drivers, I didn't get any discs with the machine as everything is supposed to be pre installed, anyone got any ideas?

I did spend some time searching for a solution before posting the question, but no I didn't find that thread, and TBH I don't think it applies anyway, my tuner didn't stop during setup, it worked fine for a while but now has this random on/off fault.
