vaio software available

HI everyone!

Do you know if VAIO Camera capture utility and vaio recovery center are available from the official site of sony?
my notebook is VGN-CR31S/L and i want to format my disk.
So i am afraid that i will not have the software of camera and i wiil lost all the preinstalled vaio software.
my notebook does not come with any dvds.

Please, before format anything... you need to create the recovery discs. (Use CD's or DVD's from Sony).

You have the follow possibilities... (Step-by-Step)

* How can I make a backup of my data?
* How can I create recovery disc set for my VAIO that has HDDR?
* I cannot find the recovery discs in the box supplied with my VAIO.

Not all Sony and third party applications can be downloaded directly as they are copyrighted. They can be installed from the hard disk. More info here...

If any drive is missing, you can count with the recovery disc... :smileygrin:

i ve done this with vaio recovery center. i ve already created 3 dvds.

i forgot to tell you that i want to install vista business in my notebook.
windows home premium is preinstalled.

so, what about my problem above?

Also, we can re-install the driver software for the camera directly... Follow these steps:

1) Click Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Device Manager
2) Double Click Imaging Devices
3) Right-Click the device name for your camera and click Update Driver Software

Hi dim80,

if you format your HDD and install vista business on your CR31S/L, then unfortunately you will loose all of the following Sony pre-installed software..

Audio - VAIO Music Box, SonicStage Mastering Studio 2.4

Video & TV - VAIO Content Importer / Exporter, WinDVD 8.0 for VAIO, DivX Player & Converter

Photo - Adobe Photoshop Elements 6

CD-DVD Burning - Easy Media creator 9, Click to Disc/Editor, VAIO Movie Story

Office Application - Adobe Standard 8, Microsoft® Works 8.5.

Security & Other - VAIO Recovery Utility 2.6 - HDD recovery (hidden partition), Google software package

The guide that Itbroker mentions above will only work if your Vaio has the original pre-installed Vista OS and Vaio Recovery utility installed..

However I don't think your F keys etc will work correctly under Vista as the CR3 series Original Utilities Package does not seem to contain the required Sony Utilities file, but the earlier CR2 series utilities does, you could try installing those on your CR3 Vaio..
