SZ71VN memory issue

Hi all.

I just got a SZ71VN
but its spposed to come with 4gb of ram, but Vista is only showing 3gb is anyone else having this issue?
I wnt to crucialmemory.co.uk and does scanned my hardware and does show to have 4gb but vista only showing 3gb
apart from that the laptop is fine,

Hi kyo182 and welcome,

This is normal - your SZ71VN does have 4GB of RAM installed but the 32-bit version of Vista can only recognise 3GB of RAM.

The specifications for your model say: -

Max Memory Comment - In the case of 4GB, a portion of the system memory over 3GB might not be available to the operating system

Hi kyo182,

even though the Vista 32 Bit only recognises 3GB of Ram your Vaio should have installed matching 2GB memory modules, therefore your Vaio will benefit from the performance advantages offered by dual-channel support..
