I've been looking out, Windows Update, for the Vista SP1 upgrade to appear. It hasn't! This suggests to me that there is a driver conflict which is waiting to be resolved before SP1 is made available by Windows Update.

Has anyone else with a FE41S received the SP1 via Windows Update? I am reluctant to install via CD or specific SP1 download as, from what I have read, Windows Update will not make SP1 available until driver problems have been resolved.

Any thoughts?

Hi ncddcn and welcome.

It is probably a perceived incompatibility in the Sigmatel Audio Driver that is preventing SP1 being offered by Microsoft Update.

You can either wait for Sony to fix this or you can download and install the 'Standalone Installer SP1 Version" from HERE

Before you try to install SP1 you must install KB937287 Update Program 1.0 first.

Several of us have installed SP1 in this way without problems but any decision must be down to you.

Many thanks for your input. I will think about this. I already have KB937287 installed so that's a start. I would be interested to know why you believe it is a problem with this audio driver please? Are there other threads on this topic? I searched and didn't find any?

Unfortunately, the SEARCH facility on this forum is rubbish - I hadn't looked either!

I always Google in Firefox. "Club Vaio Vista SP1 Sigmatel" finds the following threads: -
