topic HELP in PCs & Accessories

Having "upgraded" from a VGN T2XP to a TZ serires PCG 4L2M which came with Vista business edition and Office 2007 I am finally contemplating buying an Apple. The machine is so slow to start, is unstable, sometimes operates so slowly that I assume that it has locked up, typically takes over 5 minutes to start and that is without any other apps being added and without the crud of two years of registry buyild-up.
I assume that it is Vista which is slowing it down and what I need to know is do I dump it, take a loss and try to find another used T2 or is there a simple way of getting rid of vista and starting again. If it is complicated then I won't try, since if expensive stuff like this doesn't work "out of the box" then it is the manufacturer who is at fault, not the idiot who bought it. (me)
All I wanted was a light weight portable with a decenrt battery life, I don't want any of the Sony vaio media/entertainment stuff (although as I spend three months each year in the USA it would be nice of the Sony gestapo to let me play videos in both region formats)

Help needed, or bargain Vaio for sale
