Hi

Yes - I finally decided to RTFM - and although it states rewritable discs can be used, the system obviously prefers just write discs. By the way - what does the RW stand for? It is on the writeable discs I bought. Anyway, I did the deed and it worked! Thanks for the help and info re double layer/dual layer discs. Another question if I can be so bold - how do you stop the blasted MS office registration thingy popping up at every opportunity? - there is a 60 day trial with the laptop so I have nothing as such to register with billy boy!

I cannot create recovery disks - when I get to the 'create disk' screen, I put in a disk (Phillips, double layer DVD+r), select the disk on screen, but it never gets as far as 'next'. The DVD ejects and I get an 'insert media' message! What on earth am I doing wrong? I thought this was idiot proof - obviously not!

Thanks for the reply - I have a Vaio NR21M/S - just got it today as replacement for a 2yr old Medion! I was advised to get the aforementioned discs by the sales person but so far, I cannot create the restore discs. I really do not understand the difference between double layer and dual layer (is there one?). The discs I have are RW - does this make a difference? Any infor sincerely appreciated - IATC user.
