Posted - 05/17/2008 : 07:31:24
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello, im a happy owner of a TX5VN/L, and recently updated bios to latest version, R0054N3. The problem is after that the fan become annoying, very annoying, firing all the time and louder than before.
Don't know why because the CPU with previous bios (r0051N3) wasnt hot...
Can't find previous bios and sony don't provide rollback bios.

I make a request to anyone who can help me and allot of other TX users that have been tricked by new bios...

Who has Bios R0051N3 (can enter bios to check it, when start computer perss F2 to enter bios), if they can please proceed this steps, it wont harm your computer. I alredy tested in mine and was quite easy:

1.)
Download the "Phoenix Winpflash Utility".
For example from here:
ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/util...sh-utility.zip

After this, install and run the "Phoenix Winpflash Utility".

http://bnobtc.pix-art.com/images/bor...kup-bios00.png

2.)
Choose: "Backup BIOS only"

http://bnobtc.pix-art.com/images/bor...kup-bios01.png

3.)
It sounds weird and crazy, but take any PhoenixBIOS update,
for example from acer:
ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/note...3a06_intel.zip (ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/note...3a06_intel.zip)
You can also take any other (256K/512K/1024K) Phoenix BIOS updates.

4.)
Extract and add the .wph file from the mentioned
example BIOS file: 3a06_intel.zip to the: "Specify new BIOS file" -field
and choose: "Advanced settings".

http://bnobtc.pix-art.com/images/bor...kup-bios02.png

5.)
Then deselect all clickboxes and press Ok.

http://bnobtc.pix-art.com/images/bor...kup-bios03.png

6.)
Now press: "Backup BIOS"

http://bnobtc.pix-art.com/images/bor...kup-bios04.png

7.)
Accept the following message/ info dialog box...:
http://bnobtc.pix-art.com/images/bor...kup-bios05.png

...and go on with backup your BIOS.

8.)
When backup process is finished...
http://bnobtc.pix-art.com/images/bor...kup-bios09.png

...you sould see the BIOS dump...
http://bnobtc.pix-art.com/images/bor...kup-bios10.png

Finally, you can send the BIOS file to me (ricardocarvalho@sapo.pt)
Very thankfull
