Thanks for getting back to me.

The restarting always seems to work, but to be honest I was thinking it might be time for a complete system restore anyway. Would this tend to sort out problems like this?

This didn't happen for the first year of using this computer so I thought If was restored to original settings might fix it?

Hi, I have a Vaio VGN-NR21M. The touchpad once in a while would either: stop completely, or reverse itself. But in the last month this is happening every time I use the computer after 10-30 minutes of use. And if I'm out with it I have to use an iPhone app as a mouse if I can't restart at that moment! Not ideal!

I have downloaded and correctly installed the right pointer device drivers from the official Vaio site for my correct model, but nothing is improving.

Please help!

Hi Thomas,

welcome to club VAIO..

your touchpad problem has been mentioned before, however I don't recall seeing anything on a NR series, but unfortunately as far as I am aware no solution was found..

After searching around in the past it appeared that the general thought was that this problem is caused by a software conflict..

These solutions sometimes helped..

You could try installing a newer version of the alps pointing device driver, use the following link to download the: Alps pointing device 7.0J_7

Does that correct the problem?

If the problem continues try shutting your Vaio down, ( not sleep or hibernate) then turn off the wireless switch.

Reboot your Vaio and once all the start-up processes have loaded, turn on your wireless switch again.

Does that correct the problem?
