I have a RX301 with an Amd Athlon 1800XP Processor which I find agonisingly slow. I am very low on memory as well. Please can anyone tell me if I can replace the processor to a larger/faster one. If not, will adding another 512MB memory module make the PC go faster and respond quicker, because I am totally fed up with getting "not responding" on all my software. Many thanks in advance for your help.

GIGGSY:smileysad:

This CPU has 1533MHz.. Mmmh, which Motherboard do you have? I think a Athlon XP2000 - 2200 (1,7 and 1,8GHz)would be OK. But I need the type of the Motherboard. And a upgrade to 512MB would be usefully too. The problem here is you need a higher Core Voltage. (I think 1,6volts) The XP1800 works with 1,5 volts. I don't know whether you can change this in the BIOS.

Thanks for replying so promptly. My Viao is approximately 2 years old. I have no idea where to look for the Motherboard. I tried looking in Device Manager but couldn't find it. Where should I look.

Many thanks.

GIGGSY
