Why my AntiVir gets deactivated???

Hi everyone;

I have got AntiVir Version 6 for Windows. Every now and then I have to activate it from ¿Service¿ in "Admin tools" as it goes off automatically! :smileythinking:

Has anyone had this experience before? And knows why this keeps happening?? It is quite frustrating to check if the umbrella is up!!!

I have no experience of AntiVir, but it is well known that some viruses disable your antivirus programme.

For starters I would run a full virus scan whilst in `Safe Mode¿ and follow that up with an Ad/Spyware scan.

I use AntiVir too. I agree with Rich.

I would download Antivir again.
After this, I would restart the Computer in the Save-mode with network. Activate your Firewall and use this Link:

http://de.trendmicro-europe.com/consumer/products/housecall_launch.php

this is a online virus scanner. You need the IExplorer to use this scan.
Make a complete systemscan and reinstall AntiVir.

Seriously get yourself AVG, it's excellent and it doesn't cost a penny if it's for home use.

I don't know how to restart the computer from safe mode

If I have to install AntiVir again, I have to uninstall it first, right? How do I protect my PC against viruses while the installation is being processed???:smileyconfused:

press F8, after you have seen the VAIO logo.

in the safe mode, windows loads only the most important drivers.

the result is that N O R M A L L Y no virus can start in this mode.

(may be, I'm wrong)

How do I protect my PC against viruses while the installation is being processed?

Make a online Virusscan (use the Link from Rich)
I would check the Firewall. (Sygate sycurity scan )

No warranty for time near updates of Virus definitions.

May be, my english isn't the best.

I don't know whether AVG is a good software. I have never used this Software. But this sentence is a death sentence, for a antivir software.

If my translation is correct:

'NO GUARANTEE on the current availability of updatings'

then I belive that this refers to the product and not the virus definitions . The US website states 'Free Virus Database Updates for the lifetime of the product'.

Seb: they update the defntions very often, so i wouldn't worry about that.

Anyway you can't really complain as it's free.

Its uncomparable, they're different - you need a firewall alongside AVG

OK lol not a fair comparison. If AVG and Symantec are compared on antiviral products then what is better?

Just wondering if AVG is better - I have Symantec's NIS 2005 now, but AVG is better I will get that in September...
