problems switching off computer

hi everyone i need some urgent advice and help.
i have a pcv-rs604 desktop.sudeenly it developed a problem.it is not shutting off i have to switch off by pressing on off button.
i have removed new software like voip buster etc.still no joy.
i am running norton internersecurity 2006 and bt yahoo on line protection.
please can any one advice.

Have you tried a system restore to a point when you Vaio did shut down.

To open System Restore, click Start, > Help and Support. In the Help and Support Services window, >Fixing a problem, >Using System Restore to undo changes.

Also in help & support fixing a problem there should be a wizard for startup & shut down problems.

It sounds like a clash between Norton and BT

Norton has done this to me before which is the sole reason why I removed it. You need to get rid of northon and problem should be resolved.

I had the same problem with Norton 2005.

Got fed up in the end and switched to ZoneAlarm ISS
