PCV W1/G hard drive issue

Hello All I have recently acquired my friends PCV W1/G which looks a dream but he's had hard drive problems and it is no longer present so iguess my real question is can i reload windows on to a new hard drive and use what facilities i can download drivers for and where to start I dont have the recovery disc at present it just presents me with the pentium logo and i cannot find bios any clues please?

You can download the Original Drivers Package and the Original Utilities Package for the W1/G from here: -

This will give you the basic functionality but unfortunately, all the preinstalled Software Applications cannot be downloaded. This model has the Sony Gigapocket software (the precursor for Media Centre) and this means that things like the TV Tuner cannot be made to work without purchasing a copy of the original Recovery Discs from Sony.

You can download updates for the original software from here: -

but the updates are useless without the original Applications.
